Decision making .... La prise de décision
Decisions or decision making process have a key role in leading and managing.
Imagine your day to day activity is a journey .. you have several directions, crossings points and this choices have an impact on the next part of the journey (short term) but also the complete one …. Of course you may think you can reroute on another path (“all roads lead to rome”) but it may have different impacts.
Taking this image, do we then have a real paradox or to manage today's decisions impacting future choices and decisions linked to the first one.
The question is then more how you can decide today with maximum trust that this is the most relevant decision for tomorrow's situation improvement.
For a relevant decision, you would need, key elements : factuel inputs (data), inputs from others , your own experiences, your feelings, your intuition, a part of acceptance of uncertainty,
We know that the world has and is still changing, the famous “VUCA” world ..volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity are the key characteristics you have to handle as a manager … Not an easy task for sure, but look behind you .. Decision is making a choice … and you have already done the greatest one to arrive at where you are.
Your decision will be the relevant one, because it will be your choice at the moment you are taking this decision … you will never have all the potential futures hypothesis in order to be 100% secured decision, but you have 100% of you…
Take a breath, and be convinced that even if you are not taking the best decision at this crossing point, the road is not one way, and you will have other crossing points, other decisions to fine tune this decision, to adapt … and even a new context
Be and decide as you are …
